Everyone hears the benefit of using cast-iron cookware, but the downside is they tend to rust. To keep your pots and pans looking good, first, scrub with steel wool to remove any baked on food or rust. Next, wash with soap and water. Quickly dry so no new rust forms. Now, rub the pan thoroughly on the inside with vegetable oil and bake at 350° for half an hour. When finished, turn the pan over and rub the underside with vegetable oil and bake for the same time. You may have to repeat this process to get a uniform finish. However, when you are done you have given your vessel a full reseason.
