Chatter: Free Brie?????????
2
I have to tell you about an experience I just encountered at the supermarket. I purchased 2 packages of Brie cheese that were marked by a dairy sticker $3.49 each. Upon scanning them they rang up $7.99 each. I pointed this out to the front end supervisor who then took them, did some calculations, and said, “You get one for FREE!” she then said, “you only owe $5.99!”. I was astounded! How did she come up with that price??? I questioned. The answer was the store’s policy is not to refund more than $10.00 (What? The price is $3.49!) she said, no we go by the scanned price! (let’s see is $7.99 greater than $10.00????). STILL where did $5.99 come into play? I argued! I said I should get the Brie for the price on the package otherwise that is deception! She argued back this is the store’s policy! Finally, 2 other supervisors came did some calculations, ran back and forth to the courtesy desk, and I got the 2 packages of Brie for a total of $3.49. The moral of the story is to stick to your guns! Fight for what is right and if you don’t understand it request that the store manager explain the situation. Too many times store employees make up their own rules.
Way to go Georgine. This has happened to me too, several times. The store usually does the right thing but it takes SOME convincing
