There are ways to lower your homeowner insurance costs and you should shop around for quotes about every two years. Some of the ways you can save are: raise your deductible, combine home and auto policies to get a multi-policy discount, install security and fire alarms, update plumbing, electrical, and heating, install deadbolt locks, and ask your agent for other discounts such as for good students, driver’s ed courses, etc. You can also check your CLUE (Comprehensive Loss Underwriting Exchange) report for errors. This report details past claims.
