Ugh, after that delicious barbeque, those greasy, grimy grill grates must be cleaned! It really puts a damper on your good time! Don’t fret, cleanup can be easy if you place the grates and any other dirty metal from the grill in a large, heavy-duty trash bag (no you’re not going to throw them out!!). Add one cup of ammonia (you may want to wear one of those handy Covid masks to protect you from the fumes). You can buy a large bottle at the Dollar Store. Let this sit overnight. The ammonia will have broken down any grease, food, and ash. The next day, open very carefully, away from your face (still wear that mask) and remove the grates wearing gloves (another handy Covid staple). Rinse off with the hose, let air dry. Most times this should be it and you’re ready to replace on the grill. If not, a light scrub should do the trick.
