For many years I was loyal only to my favorite supermarkets because they had the best sales as well as coupon offers. Adding manufacturer’s coupons to the mix made it a home run. Lately, my opinion has changed. The scarcity of food coupons in our Sunday newspapers and lackluster printable coupons has caused my turn around. I still shop my local supermarkets Shop-Rite, Acme, and Walmart, but I hold warehouse clubs in higher regard! Warehouse clubs like BJ’s, Costco, and Sam’s Club have partnered with home service companies to give members gift card bonuses when joining through their subscription. Supermarkets take coupons, some, like Shop-Rite and Acme double up to 99¢ (in some areas). The only warehouse club, that I know of, that takes manufacturer’s coupons, as well as their own, at face-value is BJ’s. Warehouse clubs can save you money on gas (Acme has a rewards program that shaves up to $1.00 off per gallon). Other perks from Club stores are: discounts on windows and home improvements, tires, car insurance, eye-care and prescription glasses. So the bottom line is I shop at both types of stores. Warehouse clubs charge a yearly subscription. If you frequent them, you more that make up for the price in savings. Supermarkets are FREE, but you need their loyalty card to reap some savings. I compare prices and rewards for my purchases so I can make an informed decision. No one store does it ALL for me.
