If you are bothered by racoons raiding your garbage cans, spread Epsom salt around the bottoms and on the top of the cans. Racoons dislike the taste so this will discourage them. Reapply as needed. Another help will be to secure the handles with bungee cords so if they make it through the Epsom salt barrier their paws won’t be able to pry the can open.
