When you are ready to prepare your famous guacamole recipe, you realize your avocado isn’t ripe at all! Oh no! Hopefully, you were getting ready ahead of time because if you have 12-24 hours you can speed up the ripening process by placing the avocado in a paper bag or air tight container with a banana peel. The peel releases ethylene which is a gas that triggers ripening in fruit. So your avocado will be ripe much sooner!
