If you lift the lid on your outdoor grill only to find grimy, caked-on greasy food bits stuck to the grates, don’t close it again! Grab an onion! Turn the grill on HOT. Peel and cut the onion in half. Spear with a grilling fork and rub the cut side-down along the gates. The onion’s acids will break up any build up of grease so you won’t have to scrub. This method is much better than a wire brush that can leave behind dangerous tiny metal fibers. When your grill is clean, toss the onion.
