If you love to pick fresh flowers from your garden to spruce up your home, but find they wilt after a short time, try submerging them, stems and all, in a bowl of cold water for an hour. As they soak, snip off 1/2″ of each stem diagonally so it removes the air bubbles that block the intake of water. Now, place the flowers in a vase with fresh water and refrigerate. This slows the decay and preserves the flowers while they hydrate (like a florist does!). Your bouquet will perk up over night!
