Minerals form inside hot water heaters. This causes clogs that can effect your tank. If you flush your tank once a year you can rid this. Simply turn off the power, gas, and cold water to the tank. Now turn on HOT water in a nearby sink. This prevents air pockets in the pipes. Connect a hose from your tank’s spigot to a bucket, drain until the water is clear, then shut off. Disconnect the hose and turn your tank back on. Finished.
