Tip of the Day: Garlic-Smelling Hands?
If you love the taste of garlic but not the smell it leaves on your hands after chopping or cutting it try some of these tricks: freeze your garlic! Frozen garlic doesn’t release as much odor plus its easier to peel. Before cutting, rub some olive or avocado oil near your fingernails to create a barrier that will prevent the smelly sulfur compound from sticking to your skin (just be sure your hands aren’t slippery when you pick up the knife!). Lastly, if the smell is there already, rub your hands on a stainless steel utensil while running under cold water for 30 seconds, then wash with soap and cold water. The sulfur compounds will bind with the molecules in the stainless steel to nix the smell.
