Tip of the Day: Reduce the Risk of Lyme Disease
While you are enjoying the outdoors, you run the risk of getting infected by ticks that can spread the bacterial infection, Lyme disease. Here are a few preventative measures:
Spray your feet and socks (most especially) with a repellent that contains permethrin. All your clothing and any exposed skin too!
When home, toss ALL of your clothing in the dryer IMMEDIATELY on high for at least 6 minutes. Then, wash as usual in the washer. The heat will kill any hitchhikers you may have brough home with you as washing alone won’t.
Shower your body within 2 hours of coming home to reduce your risk of contracting the disease.
