Tip of the Day: Bananas Last Longer When Separated from the Bunch

If you pull apart your banana bunch before placing in your fruit bowl they will stay fresh longer. Why? Each banana releases ethylene gas that causes ripening and browning. This not only effects the individual fruit but any that it’s connected to. By breaking them apart it limits this gas so, even in the same bowl, they will last longer.
