If you have a birdbath and enjoy watching the birds come and go, here are a few things to make Winter more bearable for our feathered friends trying to get a drink: cover the bottom of the basin with a black garbage bag before adding water. The black plastic will absorb the sun’s heat which will keep the water from freezing for as long as possible. Also, toss a couple of clean tennis balls into the water. If the wind blows, it will move the balls around so ice breaks up to allow access to the water below.
