Tip of the Day: Is Your Expired Medication Safe?

I am not a doctor, of course, but many pharmacists agree that certain medications are safe to use AFTER the expiration date on the bottle. Over-the-counter Heartburn medication can be safe 6-12 months after the date, Painkillers are also good 6-12 months after the date, but may not be as effective, Eye Drops are NEVER good after the expiration date, and Weight-Loss drugs tend to degrade quickly so use within expiration date otherwise you won’t get the desired effect. Looking for a way to dispose your out-of-date meds? Ask your pharmacist or local police department for their policy. Be safe!
