To keep kitchen sinks from getting sluggish and prevent backups, pour 1/2 cup of coarse salt down the drain followed by 1 quart of hot water. Do this once a month to keep drains flowing! The salt is slightly abrasive so it helps scrub the pipes while the hot water loosens stuck-on grime.
