You know your plastic container is clean, but it is stained from tomato sauce. It’s ugly! You don’t want to toss it because it is still in good shape. While it may take some scrubbing to get this container back to new-like, you can prevent the next one from happening. Simply soak your new container in cold water for 5 minutes before filling with any stain producing food. By chilling the plastic you will make it less porous so it won’t be as likely to absorb any food pigments.
