If you are bothered by trash pandas, racoons, pilfering through your trash it is not only a nuisance, but they leave a big mess! It seems they cannot tolerate the smell of ammonia (who can?). If you place a rag or paper towels that are soaked with cleaning ammonia on top of your trash, underneath the lid, they will avoid your barrels. This works for bears too!
