In 2022 Spotted Lantern Flies made their appearance, at least to me. Many areas of the country were plagued with these pests that ruin trees and flowers. If you know what to look for, before they hatch, you can destroy them using a putty knife or old credit card by simply scraping them off the tree bark. Look for a mud-like gray substance which cracks over time and looks like mortar. The image on the right shows all the stages of this pest.
