Tip of the Day: Preserve Cast-Iron Cookware with Beer
Cast-iron cookware is a healthy way to cook, but not so easy to clean. Scrubbing leaves scratches and takes away the elements that are important for seasoning. While still warm, pour enough beer into the pan to cover the bottom. Let sit for 10 minutes, then dump and rinse. The carbonation will lift any stuck-on food particles while the nuttiness in the beer will enhance future flavoring.
