If your pillar-type candles tunnel ( burn down the center around the wick) it is because it is not melting by layer. To ensure it does and save your pricey decor for a bit longer, when you light a candle for the first time, do not blow it out until the pool of liquid wax covers the entire surface of the candle. This will help it melt layer by layer. A candle should melt one inch every hour. Enjoy your candles longer!
