We can save money by line drying our clothes, however, the biggest complaint is that they are stiff and not soft. Away to get around this and still use less energy is to put dry, line-dried clothing in the clothes dryer with a fabric softener sheet for a few minutes. Your laundry will be soft and fresh scented. The amount of time would depend upon the size of the load, but it is still MUCH less time than drying the whole load when wet!
I have found when drying my clothes on our clothes drying rack, if I simply give them a vigourous shake when putting them onto the rack and shake them again when taking them off that is enough to remove the stiffness.
