Tip of the Day: Soak Fruit in Salt Water to Prevent Browning
Cut up fresh fruit is a staple for any entertaining. As you know, fruit browns, especially apples and pears, when cut. To avoid this, Ina Garten suggests soaking fruit slices in a bath of 1/8 teaspoon of salt per 1 cup of water for 5 minutes. Then, rinse in cold water. The salt will slow down the oxidation so you can prep up to one week in advance! This is good for when packing lunch boxes.
