Tip of the Day: Best Deals in October
As we welcome October here are some of the best deals you’ll get this month!! October is one of those months between big sales like Back-To-School and before the Holiday Sales, BUT don’t worry, October can hold it’s own! Sometimes I think Halloween gets more attention than any other holiday! You will find savings on Jeans, Grills, Appliances, Lingerie, and, of course, Halloween costumes and accessories. Party stores as well as Drug Stores, like CVS, Rite Aid, and Walgreens, will help you fill your needs for Candy and Accessories. Look for money-saving sales and, of course, coupons!! Supermarkets have sales NOW on candy so its THE best time to buy! Your best costume bargains come right before October 31st. So, if you are flexible and aren’t dead set for a current theme or a character, you’ll get a good price on what’s left, don’t forget to look at Pajamas! You may find an easy special costume. Crafty folks, know they can find help at thrift stores for that must needed wardrobe or finishing accessories. On November 1st, the day after Halloween, mostly every store will have half-off everything that’s leftover from Candy to Costumes to Décor. Buy for next year! Check the candy dates, most are good for months to come and can be enjoyed into the Winter. They are also a great bargain for use in recipes too!
Don’t forget Columbus Day October 14th. Mall shopping offers BIG savings during this holiday! Online isn’t too shabby either!
Amazon has announced a second Prime Day event for 2024, happening October 8th-9th. It features deals exclusive for Prime Members and special invite-only offers. Especially look for tech deals like Fire tablets, TVs, and more. If you aren’t a Prime member, you can still get in on some of the deals.
Have you noticed there are National Days that fall EVERY day! There are way too many to list. Here on some of the most popular: Taco day is on October 1st, while National Dessert Day is on October 14th. This month will be the perfect time to indulge in tacos from different restaurants, so keep an eye on your favorites for special promotions and there’s ALWAYS room for dessert!!!
Wine lovers and drinkers fill your wine racks with markdowns now because Liquor stores are making room for the Fall harvest lines coming in so there should be price reductions. Be sure to look for your favorite and stock up.
As we prepare for the ending of Daylight Saving Time on November 3rd you’ll find sales on alarm clocks, batteries, safety equipment, and smoke detectors. Fire Prevention Week is October 6th through 12th. Don’t forget to donate to those who serve you so selflessly. Remember they are there when you need them.
If you have room in your heart and home it is also Adopt a Shelter Dog Month. The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA) sponsors and promotes this worthy cause.
Anything denim will probably be affordable because there is a big surplus of jeans from leftover back-to-school shopping. Look for the top name brands for the best bargains at big box stores.
Many appliance stores are getting in new models so you’ll save a bundle if you buy from last year’s inventory. This used to be a popular wedding month, so look around to find discounts on small appliances like toasters, coffeemakers, and blenders at your favorite store. Look for vacuum cleaner deals too. Try negotiating with the salesperson, they might be eager to unload unsold items, like washers, dryers, and refrigerators.
Auto supply stores are in the midst of Fall Car Care Month. You’ll get deals and coupons from the larger ones in-store and online. Check your fluids, hoses and belts, batteries, brakes, steering and suspension, tires, wipers, and lights. Give your vehicle a good wash and wax to clear away the summer grime and this will prepare it for the extreme conditions to come.
If you’re a camper, gear up for your outdoor adventure with mark downs on sleeping bags, camp chairs, and other gear. Also, RVs, like cars, have last year’s models at lower prices.
As I mentioned above, in the supermarket has a National Month of Pizza, Popcorn, and Seafood that will give you sales on shrimp, clams, salmon, tuna, and more. Halloween pumpkins will be cheaper whether you are carving a Jack O’ Lantern or baking a pie. Try to combine coupons, mostly digital ones, with sales on these items to save more. Also stock up on late Summer produce and seasonal produce like almonds, apples, artichokes, arugula, asparagus, avocados, bananas, basil, black berries, beets, broccoli, Brussel sprouts, cabbage, chestnuts, cranberries, cantaloupe, carrots, cauliflower, celery, corn, cucumbers, figs, grapes, green beans, lemons, limes, parsnip, pears, pomegranate, potatoes, spinach, squash, and yams. Start shopping for your holiday baking needs too like canned pumpkin, evaporated milk, and baking chips. These are just beginning to go on sale so buy now and save.
Sit by a warm fire, drink some hot chocolate or cider, and relax.
