Good health, peace, and happiness to all in 2024!

If you aren’t burned out from too much holiday shopping, this first week of January you’ll be able to get holiday leftovers like Christmas cards, lights, holiday décor, wrapping paper, bows, and paper goods for at least half off, if you can find them. If you are lucky enough to find solid color goods, they can be used all year long; regular holiday themes can be saved for next year. Don’t forget online clearance sales too.

With the Super Bowl right around the corner, you’ll start to see discounts on HDTVs and more. Now is a good time to buy if you are thinking about upgrading or buying a new system.

January White Sales will be popping up online and in big-box stores. Replacing worn out towels and sheets now will save you a lot. Plan ahead! Donate your used ones to animal shelters. They always need these items.

January means fitness equipment and gym membership costs will be lower  because many of us are anxious to get back into shape due to the over-indulgence during the holidays. If you feel secure going to a gym, with all the COVID hub bub, shop around to look for deals. There may be 2 for 1 deals too if you bring a friend. Don’t forget to check for online fitness classes that can be taken safely at home and may have equally desirable savings.

Good deals on small kitchen appliances will be found at the start of the year.  You will see a variety of small kitchen appliances for as LOW as $15.00 each. If yours are on the way out, buy now! Also think of upcoming wedding shower gifts or for those moving to a new place!

If you still need toys, maybe to help the less fortunate, look for reductions especially on those related to current movies and TV shows. These have to clear off the shelves while they are still relevant.

If self-care is a New Year’s resolution, the stores will be discounting a variety of beauty and personal care items to help you keep yours.

Sporting goods for those cold outdoor activities will start to go on sale as everyone’s thoughts turn to Spring. There is still plenty of time for cold weather sports ahead so you’ll most likely be able to use your purchase soon. The worst that can happen is you’ll be ready for next year!

National Parks will have FREE admission on Martin Luther King Day 1-15-24. I’ve included a link for all of the entrance-free dates for 2024.

January is a good time to shop for furniture. Many furniture companies introduce new items and lines in February so stores will try to make room by reducing their inventory.

Costume jewelry will be reduced up to 75% off because the glitz and glamor of the holidays is over. Look for bargains.

Getting organized is usually another resolution. Look for deals on storage, closet organizers, and cleaning items to help you keep your promise.

In the supermarket it’s National Oatmeal Month. Look for Quaker products, as well as other brands to go on sale. Oatmeal has a long shelf life so feel free to stock up. National Spaghetti Day is on January 4, look for pasta specials early in the month. Everyone will probably be dieting due to all the luscious desserts we ate over the holidays. Use coupons in combination with sales on diet food, protein shakes, soda, frozen finger foods (for Super Bowl), leftover Christmas chocolate, and cold and flu medications, as well as vitamins. Seasonal produce such as oranges, pears, grapefruit, tangerines, broccoli, carrots, cauliflower, celery, chard, collards, kale, kiwi, avocado, cabbage, and spinach will all be at lower prices.  There will probably be some coupons for these items (not the produce!) in the upcoming Sunday newspapers (fingers crossed!). Plus, check Coupons.com for additional selections.

Happy New Year!
