Do not toss food because the expiration date is today or has just passed. Some items can last longer, some lots, than the dates on the packaging. For instance eggs can keep up to 5 weeks longer than the use by date as long as they have been refrigerated. Commercially prepared bread can last up to 18 days more if kept cool and dry. Most foods can last longer than stated so think before you throw out.
