Tip of the Day: Hand-Held Garden Tools Come Clean with Sand
Those hand-held garden tools of yours looking a little rusty and worse from wear and tear? Spiff them up by filling a pail with construction sand then add 1/4 cup of vegetable oil and mix. Dip your spade, trowel, and other small tools into the sand 5 times before and after each use. The gritty sand sharpens and polishes the tools while it removes rust and dirt. The oil coats the blades with a protective layer that prevents rust.
