Tip of the Day: Remove Rust from Pots, Pans, & Utensils with a Potato
Did you know that potatoes are a natural enemy of rust because of oxalic acid they contain? This is the active, main ingredient in store-bought rust cleaners? So give your cast-iron cookware and utensils a swipe with a potato peel and wipe the rust off. If you have some stubborn areas, add a little salt to the peel to make it abrasive. When done rinse and dry.
