Instead of dragging out the vacuum to take lint and fur off upholstered furniture, dampen a clean sponge with cool water and squeeze out the excess. Now wipe down the affected areas of your furniture. The light moisture will keep the lint on the sponge without leaving your furniture  wet. This also works on carpeted stairs. As the lint collects on the sponge, remove it and continue.
