Tip of the Day: Rid Fresh Herbs from Germs with Vinegar
All of us are very germ-conscious these days. When you bring fresh herbs home, remember, if they aren’t washed properly they may add germs to your recipe. To rid these hard-to-clean greens from germs place them in a colander that’s in a large bowl that’s filled with 1/2 cup white vinegar. Fill the rest of the way with cold water (warm will wilt the greens). Let the herbs sit in this solution for about 5 minutes. Swish back and forth to wash the leaves. Then, give a quick rinse with cold water and they are ready to add zest to your meals.
