Tip of the Day: Kitchen Hacks to Make Your Food Last Longer
Here are a few ways to keep the foods you were able to buy last longer so you won’t have to replenish them as quickly.
Keep in mind, honey, if it is your desire, has a very long shelf life.
Keep refrigerators at 40° and freezers at 0° or below
Store cut avocados with a bit of squeezed lemon on the exposed side and wrap in plastic
Keep lettuce from wilting in the refrigerator in a plastic bag with paper towels on top and bottom in the bag, if it looks poorly, soak in ice water for a half hour
If your veggies are starting to spoil, freeze them in plastic bags for the future
Keep your chewy cookies fresh (very important!) in a plastic bag along with a slice of bread inside
Store fresh herbs wrapped in damp paper towels in plastic bags
Keep milk in the back of the refrigerator where it is coldest, not on the door,
