Power failures happen. While you have your flashlights handy for these purposes, add to them a rubber band, a clothespin, and white paper plate! You can broaden your illumination by wrapping the rubber band around the top of the flashlight and slipping one end of the clothespin behind the band. Then, clamp a white paper plate to the clothespin. This will make a brighter beam while you deal with the darkness.
