Tip of the Day: Clean Wooden Cutting Boards Easily
This is the time of year that chopping and dicing goes to extremes! If you are using a wooden cutting board a concern is germs and bacteria from food particles getting into the wood’s grain. Another concern can be colorful foods that stain your board. To fix these problems easily so you have a clean, germ-free board sprinkle salt all over the board. Now, wet a sponge with hot water and rub. This will remove any stains, food particles, and absorb any odors. To thoroughly disinfect the board, wipe the surface with a paper towel soaked in hydrogen peroxide. This will kill salmonella and any other harmful organisms that were not removed by scrubbing.
