Tip of the Day: Sinking Apple Pie?
Does your picture-perfect apple pie collapse when you cut into it? If it does its because of the gap between the apples and the top crust. To remedy this, saute the sliced apples in butter for 5 minutes before you make the pie. This will allow the fruit to release excess moisture so less steam forms in the oven. This will prevent the crust from puffing up. A la mode anyone?
