Do you crave the taste of fresh coconut? But, then you think of cracking it open, oh, no! Here are some helpful hints: Make sure the coconut you pick is heavy and makes a sloshing sound when you shake it. Find the 3 dark round circles or eyes and press each one with a wine key until you find the softest one. Screw the wine opener into the eye to create a hole. Drain the liquid into a cup. When you taste it, it should be a little sweet. If it tastes sour it is old. Place the coconut on top of several dish towels and strike at the center with a hammer while turning the coconut slowly with your other hand. After the shell has cracked, place the halves face down. Then, using the hammer, tap around each shell until the coconut meat separates from the shell. Remove the thin brown skin on the meat with a vegetable peeler. Shred or cube the meat or make chips with it, whatever is your preference. Enjoy, you worked hard for it!
