If you iron a lot using spray starch your iron probably shows the results with a sticky buildup. If its only a light coating you can clean it off by dipping a damp cloth or non-scratch scrubber into baking soda. Rub the surface with this until the grime loosens, then wipe off with another, clean damp cloth. For heavy buildup try a commercial cleaner like Faultless Hot Iron Cleaner. Follow the directions and then, blast a few shots of steam to flush any residue that may be stuck in the holes, then wipe clean. To prevent future buildup, always iron fabrics like nylon and silk while the iron is still on a lower temperature and then increase to a higher temperature for cotton and linen. Also, let the spray starch soak the fabric before you start to iron.
