It may seem elementary, but if you have never used a dishwasher and did not read the instruction manual, (maybe your teen?) you must realize that when you use detergent tablets and even liquids, you MUST place them in the dispenser and close it if applicable. Otherwise, say you put the soap on the bottom of your machine, it will get washed away before the main cycle starts.
