Tip of the Day: Remove Candle Wax from Wood

The holidays are over but the damage has been done! If candle wax spilled onto your mantle, coffee table, dining table or any other wooden surface the best way to remove it is as follows: if it is still fresh and soft let it harden by holding a plastic bag filled with ice cubes over it until the wax becomes brittle. Gently scrape up the excess wax using a credit card. Then, using a clean cloth, apply an adhesive remover such as Goo Gone (do NOT use this for unfinished wood) and then wipe away any remains. Finally, polish and buff as you normally would. The next time (of course there’s always a solution!) use a coaster or dish large enough to catch any drips!
