If you took out last-year’s suede boots and they look sad with all that water damage, you can resuscitate them with a little TLC. First, make sure they are completely dry (this is for new damage: if they are wet use a boot tree or tissue paper to stuff inside so they retain their shape). Next, use a stiff-bristled brush to remove any dirt on the dry footwear. Then, using a suede-cleaner bar and brush set, rub gently over the water or salt marks. If you have stubborn stains, dab on a 50/50 mixture of white vinegar and water with a clean cloth, removing any residue with a brush once dry. To avoid future damage, spray with a suede protector. In the meantime, you’ve saved the price of a new pair of boots!
