If you’ve ever placed a piping hot bowl or cup of coffee on your wood table and were left with a white heat mark as a reminder that you should have used a coaster or mat, don’t despair. Mix a dab of non-gel toothpaste with a pinch of baking soda to make a paste. Rub this gently over the stain until the paste feels warm, then wipe clean with a damp cloth. Repeat if necessary. The abrasive toothpaste/baking soda combination will lift the wood’s discoloration. When finished, buff with furniture polish to restore the wood’s luster.
