I have been contacted by a few of you because your Thanksgiving Dinner resulted candle wax dripping on tablecloths and napkins. Here are a few of my past tips on the subject. They are similar, but a few different techniques. I hope one of them will work for you!

If your romantic dinner resulted in candle wax dripping on your tablecloth, you can remove it with an ice cube. Rub the ice cube over the spots of wax repeatedly. The ice will freeze and harden the wax so you can remove it gently with a butter knife.

Candles add ambiance to your home but mishaps do occur! If wax drips onto your tablecloth or carpeting grab some ice cubes and place in a zip-top bag. Place the cold compress on the wax and wait about 10 minutes. The ice will freeze the wax and you can scrape it off with a dull knife. For any remains, point a hair dryer set to medium, about 5 inches away from the wax. The heat will soften the wax and you can blot it with a white (NEVER use a print, it may transfer) paper towel.

The next time you have a candle-lit dinner you won’t have to worry about cleaning out the hardened wax from your candle holder if you coat the outer lip and interior with a thin layer of coconut oil. You will be able to wipe away any drips very easily.

If candle wax dripped on your holiday tablecloth don’t despair! First scrape as much of the wax off gently with a spoon as you can. Then cut a brown paper bag in two and put one sheet under your tablecloth and one on top. With your iron set on medium heat, iron over the bag until the wax lifts up and is absorbed into the paper. Wash as usual, and you’re ready for the next dinner party.

Scrape to remove excess. Place the stained area between two pieces of white blotting paper and press with a warm iron. Change the paper as it absorbs the stain. This stain can easily spread, so use care while pressing. On colorfast fabrics, white cotton, or linen, try pouring boiling water through the stain. After using either method, allow to dry. If any trace remains, flush with a stain-removing agent, such as Guardsman Professional Strength Dry Cleaning Fluid Stain Remover. If any dye remains, sponge it with 1 part rubbing alcohol (do not use on acrylic or modacrylic fabric) mixed with 2 parts water. Rinse well with clear water and dry.
